Want to stand out at the next Tea Party?
Perhaps you just want to show the world that you are a free citizen?
Then you need a Liberty Cap.
The Liberty Cap is a descendant of the Phrygian Cap and pileus and dates back to ancient Greece, where it was originally used to denote a freed slave.
Later, the Phrygian cap was used as a symbol of a free citizen for many centuries throughout Europe and the Mediterranean.
In the 18th century, a red Phrygian cap was used by revolutionaries in America and France as a sign of Liberty and Freedom.
Our Liberty Caps are hand made in the USA (by Brian in fact right in Nashua, NH!) out of 100% cotton red flannel. They are custom made and hand sewn, each one is unique.
We can fit a Liberty Cap to just about any size head, but true giants (with a head circumference over 26") may need to pay a little more.
Please tell us your head measurement when ordering. To get this, take a non-stretchy string and run it once around your head about where the hat should sit. Pinch where the string overlaps and measure how long this is. You should get a measurement around 22-24". Also, if you prefer a straight-topped pileus style, please let us know.
